Infinera Supports Innovation with Outstanding Student Recognition Award
Infinera has partnered with the OSA Foundation to create an annual award, the Infinera Outstanding Student Recognition Award. The award recognizes outstanding graduate-level research in the area of optoelectronic devices and photonic integration. The aim of the award is to further efforts at finding innovative solutions to challenges in optics and optical networking.
At the OFC/NFOEC Conference in San Diego, in March 2009, CEO Elizabeth Rogan and Infinera Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Dave Welch awarded the first annual Infinera Outstanding Student Recognition to Ming-Chun Tien, a Ph.D. student at the University of California at Berkeley. Ming won for his paper entitled, "Optofluidic Assembly of InGaAsP Microdisk Lasers on Si Photonic Circuits with Submicron Alignment Accuracy". During the ceremony, attended by OSA members, Tien received a certificate and a check for $1500.
